Juneteenth is a “black English” colloquialism, a combination of two words-a contraction of the words “June” and “nineteenth,” and it signifies a festival of freedom-celebration to remember the end of chattel slavery in America. (After years of being hit in the head with a hammer-and then it stops you still feel the pain, then no more, we might say, “hey something is missing, and I am glad about it”) This is a story that had to be told. Our Black Folks Freedom, Independence Day – an American Holiday. A festival a joyous occasion celebrated by African Americans (Especially in Southern States) to commemorate emancipation from slavery in Texas on the day 1865 almost 84 years of what was known as Independence Day.
